Freedom – Week 6

Sometimes we have a hard time believing people when they make promises because we’ve been burned in the past. But God’s promises are based on HIM, not any man, and can be trusted always. Today we’re going to see the promise of God coming through for us, bringing freedom and hope for all who believe it.

In Galatians 3:15-29 we find Paul bringing us to a point where we have to decide if we’re going to put our faith in the Law of Moses or the promises of God. He details a covenant in human terms and then equates that with the covenant that God made with Abraham, stating that through Himself God ratified the covenant. It cannot be broken.

So when the Law came, it did not nullify the promise. God’s promises hold true and find their fulfillment in Christ, not the Law. The Law came over 400 years after the promise was given, so the Law doesn’t fulfill the promise, but helps us know where to go while we wait for the promise.

The promise is fulfilled in Jesus who gives us the Holy Spirit’s indwelling power. Now we are able to live in freedom, knowing that the Spirit will guide us where we need to go. This is the promise of God.

  1. We can trust the promise of God (15-18)
  2. The Law brought bondage through sin (19-22)
  3. The Gospel brought freedom through Christ (23-29)

Find the fulfillment of God’s promise in YOUR life by remembering what Christ did for you!
